So, not dead yet.
Soooo not dead yet.
So, we have two comments to make.
Firstly, flu sucks. Everyone knows that flu sucks, but I feel it's important to get the news out there, just in case.
Secondly, it's now 12 days into National Novel Writing Month and I have written about three hundred words. My offhand guess is that, as with NaNoWriMo 2k8 and 2k7 and 2k6, I'm going to be observing the less-creative but more-common National Work Nights Month. Granted, NaWoNiMo is essentially year-long for me, but hey.
Anyway, I may be back with something interesting to say but I have no real comments on the world at large right now.
Wait, no. Not quite true. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I think that Avatar is probably not going to be a very good movie, and I'd like to be on record as coining Ishvatar to describe it as a massive money sink with the primary purpose of wasting perfectly good actors.

I am healthy and now in possession of Europa Universalis 3. I am now objectively better than you. Also, I hope you're wrong about Avatar too, but I fear you may win the day there. |

I'm mostly better and watching Man on Wire. For the next hour or so, I win. +ca |

I already saw Man on Wire many months ago. And I made better mashed potatoes yesterday than you will ever taste in your life. Advantage swings back my way. |

What did you think of Man on Wire? I'm going to lose my indie cred I guess, but I just wasn't that impressed. I watched Burden of Dreams soon after and, while they're essentially the same movie, I thought Burden of Dreams was substantially better to watch, overall. Also, Herzog is much more sympathetic than Petit. +ca |

I enjoyed Man on Wire, but I didn't think it quite merited the 89 it got on Metacritic (but it came way closer to its score than that wretched District 9--I still seethe). It would have been much less interesting if I knew about the walk before I saw the film, but all in all I was pleased. And sadly I know nothing about Burden of Dreams. I just checked Wikipedia and can still only shrug noncommittally. |

Not happy with District 9, I take it? You should rent Burden of Dreams, it's a pretty clear portrait of Herzog (you don't have to have seen Fitzcarraldo). I'm watching Manda Bala now, which is simply excellent. You should watch that too. +ca |

If I get a chance I shall do these things. I wanted to mention that the interface I use for your site (red, grey and tan) suddenly has most of its text bolded. Also, what happened to the pissed Easter style? |
